01 The story, in three paragraphs

Why everyone keeps coming back.

If you're exploring Admiralty and crave a quick yet hearty meal that captures the essence of Hong Kong’s famed cha chaan teng (tea restaurant) culture, Café de Coral is a must-visit destination. This beloved fast food restaurant serves up an authentic taste of Hong Kong style dining with a diverse menu that resonates with both locals and travelers alike.

Situated conveniently on Harcourt Road, Café de Coral offers a bustling yet comfortable atmosphere that mirrors the energetic pulse of the city. The efficient self-service system ensures speedy dining, making it perfect for busy professionals, shoppers, or anyone seeking a satisfying meal without the wait.

The menu is a vibrant tapestry of classic Cantonese comfort foods and Hong Kong-style fast food. One cannot miss the Special Promotion “Classic Combo For 2,” which pairs an assortment of flavorful dishes with your choice of tea, coffee, or soft drinks – perfect for sharing and sampling a little bit of everything at HK$172.00. For a lighter yet equally delicious option, the Macaroni in Soup with pork and pickled mustard tuber offers a warm, comforting bowl priced at just HK$42.00, complemented nicely by a refreshing beverage.

Snack lovers will delight in their range of Egg Rolls, such as the Seaweed & Pork Floss Phoenix Roll, the Desiccated Coconut & Sesame Phoenix Roll, or the indulgent Black Sesame Egg Rolls, all priced modestly at HK$35.00 each. These crispy treats provide a wonderful contrast of textures and flavors, making for a perfect pick-me-up anytime during the day.

Customer reviews testify to Café de Coral's consistent quality and value. Dias Explores raves about the sizzling steak served with fried rice and onion sauce, paired with borscht soup and iced green tea – a balanced and surprisingly indulgent meal for less than HK$75. Meanwhile, Peter Kam Fai Cheung highlights the affordability and uniqueness of their afternoon tea sets, where a favorite noodle dish paired with a drink costs just $31, something hard to find elsewhere.

The restaurant’s extensive menu covers a broad spectrum—from Chinese to European and American-inspired dishes—which speaks to its ability to satisfy diverse palates. R. S. M. particularly recommends the whole roasted chicken, a standout for gatherings, underscoring the family-friendly appeal of the place. Though the food is solid rather than gourmet, as pointed out by Ropl, the convenience and familiar flavors make it a reliable choice. Dianne Dimagiba sums it up best: Café de Coral is a popular, budget-friendly gem delivering consistently tasty food with friendly, helpful staff and an efficient dining experience even when the place gets busy.

In short, Café de Coral in Admiralty offers an accessible, flavorful gateway into Hong Kong’s culinary fast food scene. It’s a place to savor comforting dishes that energize and satisfy, where each visit feels like a dependable embrace of local taste and hospitality.

I enjoyed the sizzling steak served with fried rice, onion sauce, borscht soup and an iced green tea. A very balanced meal and great value costing less than HK$75. Better than steaks I’ve had in some fancier sit-down restaurants.

I came here on Oct 29, 2019 to an afternoon tea set. I was surprised that I could have my favourite noodles and drinks at $31. I cannot find such a combination in other fast-food chains.

Highly recommended. Near Admiralty MTR station. All sorts of food, chinese, europe, asian, american you name it. The wide range of food is impressive. Reasonable price but with surprising quality, clean and yummy. It was our first time and I love their service crews, friendly and kind. Never miss their whole chicken if you are dining with family or friends. I got the whole roasted chicken for myself alone and killed it again hot and fresh from oven. Thanks Cafe de Coral. See you again. One of the best things i will miss about Hongkong.

Convenient location near MTR Admiralty. Diverse menu typical of this Cha Chaan Teng chain. Solid but not superb food and prices.

Cafe de Coral is a popular fast-food chain in Hong Kong, known for its affordable and tasty Cantonese meals. With a diverse menu, from roast meats to baked rice dishes, it caters to all tastes. Service is quick, and the portions are satisfying. While it’s a budget-friendly option, the quality remains consistent. The self-service system is efficient, though peak hours can be crowded. A great choice for a quick, local meal without breaking the bank. Perfect for those wanting a taste of Hong Kong’s casual dining scene!

Recommended by my colleague so gave it a try. Ordered 2 sets. 1) Sunny side up with pan fried radish cake n chicken chop Sunny side up didn't go wrong, radish cake was average and chicken chop was average. 2) Century egg with lean meat porridge, soya sauce stir fried noodles, steak. Porridge was better than expected, noodles cannot make it (can see 1 whole lump of noodles sticked together not cooked within my plate of noodles), steak was average. Coffee was ok.

As someone who has never been to this place before I would say the food is good and is decently priced. And has good flavor. Staff is friendly and placed in a great area right outside the Admiralty Train Station next to other restaurants overall good experience.
